I have been cutting wad petals on different loads in 12,16,20 & 28 for years with no problem. Mostly on 2 1/2 " shells.

Pat, what was your problem with these shells? Was it that the shot overflowed if you used your normal recipe? That is the problem I am having. Is it all HS that have a lesser capacity? Are the hulls with the "line under the AA" HS shells or pre HS shells? Thanks for helping.

The Winchester 28 ga HS
Shells without the line are The older ones, i had a friend that reloaded them for me and yes he had adjustment trouble all the time to get them to close properly with normal loads. He quit doing that for me and I started, it was not worth the time fooling with the short ones Now i reload only HS with the line under HS. IF SOME SHORT ONES GET MIXED IN I CUT THE PEDALS. |

I had a bugger of a time reloading AA 28ga hulls. The crimps were nothing short of horrible. Remington's on the other hand looked like factory loads. Though I have a bunch of AA's I no longer load them and this is on a 600 Jr.

To Bruce
Just try cutting half the petals And re load the AA s HS short That you have and throw Them away after shooting. It wont take much time to cut the petals. Look how much you would save and they will look good |

I've never had a problem with the HS 28 hull. I'm loading them as a 2 1/2" on a 2 3/4" setting. They load and crimp perfect. However, I've noticed the STS 28 is considerably longer and will crimp with a wrinkle on a 2 3/4" setting.
