I read that in my deer stand this morning. Wonderful news. I tried to gauge interest at my daughters high school and it was suggested we try to get a team of 5 kids to shoot trap or skeet or sporting in the scholastic league. After asking around it looks like I could have about THREE TO FOUR teams. If I can get help and the schools OK (I know the superintendent well) which should not be a problem, we may start one in Binghamton. NYS has a bajillion scholastic teams I wasn't even aware of.
Finally for this Thanksgiving morning I'll share a story from a woman who coaches her team in the Western NY region. She asked her daughters school board for permission to start a trap league. The board was not opposed but had concerns, but the superintendent was on board. He said, "I'll make this as objective as possible. If you can get insurance and it's not opposed by our insurer, and it's not too expensive, we can put it up for a vote as I think it's a good thing for these kids." Turns out the insurance company for the district said, "If you're concerned about premiums I suggest you lose football and have as many trap teams as you like." They now have a large team. Turns out other sports kill them with head injuries and claims and that's where the premiums are.
