Looks as if the trap has already been sprung and the target is gone; the shooter must have lots of confidence in that full choke as he is not even at the shoulder. Maybe a trick shooter; shooting in that position?

I’ve got a friend that’s a Remington collector and he has a bunch of old traps that can loosely be connected to Remington , if I’m not mistaken he has two like what’s pictured .

The hand trap ads that I've seen date from 1914 - 1917.
This is the earliest DuPont trap ad; December 1914 Forest & Stream ![]() This is neat; from 1919 ![]() There were other hand traps including the Bimco and J.C. Mitchell

There is a dupont hand trap on ebay right now a little expensive I think but it's not like they are for sale everywhere.
