I have never hunted birds out west befor but will have to give it a try sometime. A Parker for the birds and a 22-250 for some off time Prarie Dogs looks to be a good combination.

"The Jersey Lily" was the tagline of British actress and singer Lily Langtry, the late Victorian counterpart to Madonna. She figures in the plot of the wonderful 1940 film, "The Westerner" starring an unusually taciturn (even for him) Gary Cooper as a resourceful defendant and a fiesty Walter Brennan as Judge Roy Bean..."Yup, I got a lock of her hair." A tour of the America in 1882 carried her and her fame across the country. Of course, it is a long way from west Texas to Ingomar, MT. Ms. Langtry was a mistress of Edward VII for a few years when he was PoW thus having a direct association with an avid shotgun enthusiast...

The Ingomar Jersey Lily began in 1933, so maybe the lore of Lily Langtry was still fresh. We looked for, but did not see, any signs on beds or even the fresh air facilities about Lily Langtry or Prince Edward ever setting foot in Ingomar. They had no idea what they were missing.
Will James lived close by in the Powder River basin, as close as anything is in Montana. Charlie Russell lived a little further away up by Great Falls. We should have but did not take a photo of the mounted moose head smoking a cigar to show the dangers of smoking. That moose was young and running free before he started smoking cigars. |
