8 ga pumpkin ball loads

Default 8 ga pumpkin ball loads

today i loaded up 26 rounds of 8 ga deer loads guaranted gettem if you can hittem loads..this is a slow process but hopefully a good one..it took me from9.48 am till12.30 to make the balls 26 of them..you have toclean up the sprue left on the ball from the mouldi take my side cutters and trim as close as i can then i take a flat file and dress it down...i loaded up 5 rounds and was gonna try them on a paper deer but it was raining and never let up all day and still coming down...well at 5.00pm i went out and finished all the loading up they look pretty good..here are how they are loaded..winchester clear hull winchester 209 primers 40 grains of blue dot powder 2 wads 8 ga 1/2 inch thick then 3 16 ga wads 3/16 inch thick then the ball in place then 2 or 3 ten ga top wads then roll crimped.... woulda looked better useing 12 or 10 ga wads over the 8 ga wads but i wanted to use the 16 s up...will try to send pictures of the pumpkin balls and them being made if i can not gey them grom thru will have to send them to some one to post for me... charlie

no i have never tested them out.it would be tempting to send them to some one...but they would bea low pressure load for sure probably between 7000 to 8000 lbsand probablky in the 1200 fps... charlie

just shot 2 of these loads at a box for a target at 30 yards...right barrel shot 6 inches to the right and left barrel was dead on...the gun is fairly accurate at this range but tommorrow maybe i ll get to try it at 50 yards this will be the max this old gun can shoot be used to hit a deer with... charlie

wayne the diamter is .835 this is the size of the mould inside...weight of ball is 2 ounces... charlie
