Thanks for posting this Garth,
Very fitting last hunt, I always fear I don't give my Brittany's enough hunting time. Stan |

I love Waterman's work. He deserves greater recognition for his writing.

...a coincidence...
Our son and daughter-in-law hosted Thanksgiving this past week with a crowd of 15 family and friends. It turns out that one of their friends, Dave, whom we’ve known for several years, was hired by Charley Waterman to introduce him to computers and computer software. This was because Mr. Waterman’s editor insisted that he stop presenting story manuscripts on typewritten pages and instead provide them in electronic form. According to Dave, that was not welcome news to Mr. Waterman. But he and Charley Waterman became good friends as Dave introduced the hardware and software and trained Charlie Waterman to craft his stories in this new medium. They lived near each other in Florida. Later in Mr. Waterman’s life, as age began to take it’s toll, he gifted Dave a signed copy of the book, “The Part I Remember”, for which Dave, despite not being a hunter or fisherman, was deeply grateful. Then, in a moment of perfect irony, Charley Waterman, one month later, presented Dave with another signed copy of, “The Part I Remember”, having forgotten that he had already done so a month earlier.
Dave knows that I love to hunt and fish and that I deeply appreciate Charles Waterman’s work. On Thursday, he left our son’s house, drove home and returned a few minutes later with the second signed copy of “The Part I Remember” and gifted it to me. I have just started to read it. The inscription states, "To Dave- This book was done by typewriter. Charles F. Waterman" |
