My Trojan 20 rings right barrel not the left. Can't see any signs of problems at all, just sounds different when fired. No one else has ever noticed it very slight.

I have noticed a "ping" type sound before when shooting one or two of my guns. No worries.

More than likely, it's the toplever vibrating that's emitting the ringing sound.

I isolated the ringing on my 45 year project VH by wrapping the top lever with black electrician's tape. It stopped the ringing, I took the tape off and learned to enjoy the ringing. I guess I could put a piece of tape on the underside of the lever.

Resonance
Kind of what I expected. Going to have the barrels re-browned as they are currently in the white. Forend checkering is real thin, but easy to correct. Nice wood, pretty engraving, perfect hard rubber DHBP and wonderful dynamic balance. A keeper. Hope to shoot it at vintagers. Thinking about loading up brass shells. Anyone ever done so?
Next comes time to take the NR Davis 10ga hammer gun out and see how it does. Also 1890. Heavy and slow compared to Parker, but well enough built, great condition and will be fun if I can find some smokey Black Powder shells. Thank you to all for re-assurance. Greg |

William: any difference in sound between the two barrels should be carefully evaluated, esp. for a bulge.
Greg: reassurance is more...uh...reassuring when based on what is measurable. What, exactly, is 'plenty' of wall thickness? What is the length of the chambers? What are the full length bores measurements ie. is there any evidence of a bulge? Not trying to be negative; just hope to help prevent on of these

My 9 lb Parker 12 Hammergun did that also. I never understood it. It was in great condition
but ringed llghtly with about every load that I shot. Some kind of vibration somewhere? |

That Trojan 20 has a old dent repair in the right barrel about 3 inches back from the muzzle. I always accounted the ring to it. Been shooting it a lot, like it and think it's worth putting some money into a proper barrel repair and re-finish. Stock and action left alone. As it is nothing special, could be brought up nice though.
