Default Deer Hunting Guest

My nephew Kelly was sitting in his deer spot waiting to put some meat in the freezer when a grouse showed up. Thomas

Years ago, 5 of us were walking in a line grouse hunting the day before deer opener. A chickadee flitted along the line, and went along the line and landed on 4 of our gun barrels

You tell someone this story that a sharp tail Grouse landed on your gun barrel while deer hunting and they would think your really telling a good one. You then say would you like to see the photo. Thomas

Ken: I can't believe that Kelly was able to take the first photo with his cell phone and that it didn't fly away. It must have known I was going to post it on the PGCA Forum. Thomas

Thomas:

A very unique photographic record. The bird did everything but look at the camera and wink.

Maybe another instance of the “Crazy Season” for Ruffed Grouse, often ruminated over by classic upland writers, including those with biologist’s credentials.

Here is an illustration by Fred Everett from his book, FUN WITH GAME BIRDS.
