Default Something special about 16 g Parkers and grouse.

12's are versatile and can be used for just about anything, 20's (and 28's) are ideal for quail, but when I think about hunting ruffs with a Parker, it's just gotta be an old 16.

This gun bounced around a bit before finding it's "forever home" with me. It's got a wart or two, but a straight stocked DH, with very shootable dimensions, and beautiful D3 damascus barrels checks all the boxes for me.

That Parker checks a lot of boxes for me as well! Great pics, thanks for sharing!

Very, very nice! And that is one pretty set of barrels!

Thank you. I agree, Dean: lots of wear up by the breach from years of being carried but rest of the barrels are pristine. Stamped D3 - an upgrade from the "standard" D-grade?

Wonderful bird and gun Jay. I agree 100% on the 16g. I have more than a few 16g "grouse guns." Mine as well all pretty much have considerable character from use but that suits me just fine. My quandary is which one to grab, but it's usually the VH on 0 frame choked M/F with 26" tubes. Beautiful setter : )

Default more 16s

Couldn't agree more on the 16 for grouse or woodcock, beautiful dog Jay! They work well on woodcock too!

Grace and I have logged a lot of miles this fall and we have yet to move any woodcock. I hunt in the NE lower and others have told me the same thing - not seeing woodcock.

Yup, all boxes checked for the gun...and the pup!

Jay:

I am in love.... great gun, great dog, and the King.... What more could a man want.

I am still looking for a gun like that.... someday, if I dont run out of time.
