Default Markover bird hunt

Wayne Dunn and I hunted pheasants at Markover in Conn. yesterday. We hunted a dozen pheasants over my setter, Sophie. Sophie was terrific and we had hard points on all 12 birds that she located. We managed to take 10 of the 12 birds. Great hunt. Lots of fun but we really enjoyed watching Sophie work the birds and point them all. Id like to get in another bird hunt before my knee replacement surgery Nov 19.

Not Markover but Myles Standish. I've been running Sophie, my English setter in the quail fields at Myles Standish state park. Quail and pheasants are liberated 3 or 4 times per week in separate locations. I've been running sophie in the quail fields with good success. If there's a bird(s) in the quail fields, sophie with locate and hold point till this old man catches up. Have much fun of late and I'm trying to squeeze in as much bird hunting before my knee replacement surgery Nov 19 which will kill my hunting for the balance of the season. Anyway, it's so much fun watching sophie work the fields and come to a hard point on quail. By far, she's the best setter I've owned and trained.

Allen… don’t give up too easily. After my horrific crash in
February of 79 I wouldn’t stop hunting. In October I broke 3 nice hickory canes while grouse hunting. I just couldn’t stop.

Allen, Sophie is your therapy, so she'll give you inspiration to hunt again before you know it. Joint replacements are a modern day boon to those of us who like to follow bird dogs.

Allen, in two months you'll be hunting again.
