Default Brotherly wisdom

I was texting with my brother today. We don’t get many opportunities to visit as he is 3000 miles away. I had been sharing recent pheasant hunting pics then showed him this golden oldie. Explained how I came by it and blew way more than my gun budget would allow for a long time. This was his wise reply

Money is just numbers on a computer screen but a shotgun you can touch and admire so be happy that you can convert sterile digits into things of beauty.

Cheers Jack

Those are words of wisdom Jack.

I remember that picture from several years ago. In fact I liked it so much that I copied it to my files back then.

Tganks for sharing over the years.

Your bother is a very wise man and I agree completely! Moments ago I agreed to convert 5000 of those "sterile digets into things of beauty". One is a 20 GA VH the other a 20 GA Smith.

I agree with your brother and if you can do it guilt free then you are a master.

Your brother said it better than I've ever heard it said. I will do well to remember his words. I did the same thing early this year when I purchased the DHE 32" two barreled set in gauges 16 and 20. The thing that cinched it for me was when I actually realized what my chances were of ever finding another. I had to put current corn, cotton and peanut prices out of my mind, and realize that the markets will ebb and wane over time. Chances at a gun like that DHE don't.

Thanks for posting that, Jack. Beautiful photo, too!

In my gun shop I sometimes tell a customer who wants a gun that is just a little over budget. You will miss the money for a short time but will have the gun you want forever! And for me....over the past 10 or so years I found my SXS guns that I wanted and paid all the money to get them, used credit cards with zero interest and so on to get them. I'm glad I did many are very hard to find now and way more money to buy! SXS Ohio

Randy. I still have it. The prize of my collection other than of course my father’s VH. I seem to bring them home and very seldom let one go. I have helped a young guy get started and an old guy finish out a project gun but just buying/selling not my thing. Kids can sort it out when I leave the planet. Cheers Jack
