Looking for your input. I have a 22 gauge Parker Bro double barrel 30 inch. Damascus steel. Made in 1875. My dad has the letters GHE on his notes. Not sure what that means.

Dawn, I won't say there has never been a 22ga Parker shotgun, but I've never heard of one. Also, the note that says GHE would eliminate it from being made in 1875. A "G" grade gun is known as a grade 2 which is a possibility for your gun. It could also be classified as a D2 grade, which means it's a damascus barreled gun in quality 2. If it is indeed a GHE then it would have been made in or after 1902. The "E" at the end of GHE signifies the gun has automatic ejectors, which were not offered before 1902.
As for the gauge, I would bet that it is either a 12ga or a 20ga. The note just recorded the gauge incorrectly.
Pictures of the gun would likely tell us exactly what you have.
Pictures of the receiver, receiver watertable, barrel flats and all visible markings would be appreciated. Or, you could post the serial number and we could likely tell almost everything about what you have. The serial number will be on the tang of the trigger guard, on the barrel lug that fits into the receiver, on the forend iron that holds the barrels to the receiver and on the water table of the receiver when the barrels are removed.
I know that sounds like a lot, but the serial number from any of those areas will suffice unless it has a replacement part that doesn't match the rest.

Thank you for all the info. You are right, I rechecked the notes and he did write its a 12 gauge. The serial number is 60187

Thanks Dawn. I can give you the following info from the serial number.
This gun was made in 1890.
It is listed as a D2 grade hammerless shotgun having damascus 30 inch barrels,
a capped pistol grip, and is indeed a 12ga.
Pictures could tell us a bit more, like the frame size.
There is factory information on this gun with PGCA that can be ordered at the home page of this site. It will cost, but if you join the PGCA you can order the letter for $40.00 I cannot say for sure what the letter will say other than what we already know but it could tell you who the gun was ordered by and the date it shipped.
