NECG sells a "mastodon" bead which is the right size for the front bead.

Thanks everyone for the information and the PMs regarding where to locate appropriate beads. I have located some!
What a wonderful organization with extraordinarily helpful members.

Since this came up, Ill ask a question i've been wondering. How do you remove an ivory bead without destroying it? To reblue, or degrease the barrels or whatever, especially if the threads were maybe super glued.

They should be considered “not removable”.

Ivory beads will usually survive rust bluing. They may develop some light cracks and darken some, but as long as you are careful in your polishing around them, they make it theough the process. Small mod beads can be more problematic.
