Default Pawn shop find

On my way home today I stopped at a pawn shop, there set a A H Fox 20ga. It is an A grade ejector gun. Unfortunaly I beleave the barrels have been shortened. It has a broken but plate (the original) and half of it is gone. I bought the gun anyway. Can any buddy tell me where I might find an origanal one at. Engraveing is nice and the wood is'nt to bad etheir. Stock appears to be origanal and unaltered. Any Help on the but blate would be apreciated.

I would try eBay as well. I see them listed for Sterlingworths all the time, and you might find an original. Also, search for fox guns on Gunbroker and look for the "other shotgun accessories & parts"" filter you can apply to the search. There looks to be several out there right now to fit a 20ga. An A Grade 20ga in a pawn shop is an awesome find, congrats on the gun. If you really want an original, put a posting over on the Fox Collectors Association page and see if somebody has an extra. Joining the AHFCA would give you a free card lookup, and you could find out the original length of your barrels as well.

Thanks for the reply. I know about the reproductions but would rather have an original if possible. Barrel lenth is not an issue. I am fairly certian they have been chopped. They measure 23 3/4".

Would be a repro that needs to be fitted.

You can get a factory letter from the Savage historian on the gun for $75 or join the AH Fox collector's association and get a copy of the factory build card for the gun emailed to you. It could be the gun was ordered with 23-3/4" or more likely 24" barrels. Unlikely but it was adds much value if it was.

Make a dandy gun for shooting bob whites over pointing dogs.

Best,

Mike

Mike I don't think I will fool with a factory letter.I probable try shooting the gun. I am in to large bores and if I don't like the 20 I will try to trade it for a 10ga. But thanks for the information.
