A Puppy's First Bird
Our quail season thus far has been very poor. Today we tried a Thanksgiving hunt on a farm close to home. No birds throughout the morning until we had given up and were heading to the truck. Our puppy, Rill, made a point, and I was finally able to shoot a wild Bob for her -- her first. We've hunted on Thanksgiving Day for 40+ years. It's hard to measure a "best" day, but a puppy's first quail is near the top.

Your post makes me HAPPY.....I run a Gorden also, my Ruby is almost 13 and retired from front line work. We have a new member coming home in mid-January, a field bred Gordon. Her name will be Charlie. I also hope to enjoy her first pointed wild bird brought to hand. SXS ohio
