Default Metal Buttplate dates for Grade 0

Does anyone know approximate date that the metal buttplates on the grade 0 were replaced with the hard rubber dog head buttplate?

“Around 1879” according to page 101 of The Parker Story Parker shotgun 13900 has a dog’s head buttplate.

Interesting. I have 32888 , a top lever hammer gun and it has a factory steel butt plate.

The fact that dog’s head butt plates were introduced around 1879 doesn’t mean the steel butt plates were entirely discontinued then.
Parker Bros. Was a very frugal manufacturing company and if they still had stock of the steel ones they would use them up on the lowest grades.
