If the 1909 gun does not have the wood inletted for the spur and has a unspurred buttplate, it has been restocked. If the inlet is there but filled with something, it has been re-buttplated with the wrong plate.

Thanks for the information gentleman. A restock is what I was questioning on this particular gun. The work from the pictures I have seen look very good, but no spur. I may do a letter to confirm whether or not it may have been returned to Parker for a restock at a later date. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge, what a great site!

A gun of tbat era without a spur would indicate a restock. Either a factory restock in ghe 1920s or later or a restock done outside the factory.

Be aware that the order books end Dec 1919. I do have a few order/repair booKS after 1919 but your best bet would be to examine the checkering for proper borders or pull the trigger guard and look for the S/N stamped in the wood.

A lot of factory replacement restocks that i have observed have a large "R" stamped under the guard bow with the serial number.
