Anyone into muzzleloader sxs?

I am really thinking about taking this to the dove field in a couple weeks. Its the only muzzleloader I have howver after shooting it a few weeks ago, they could become addicting. This one is German made and is 14 gauge.

I hunted with muzzle loaders for years. Very satisfying. Takes a little longer to reload but worth wild.

if the new sear can be made, someone put in a poorly fitted replacement that keeps the left lock from cocking correctly, also a 14

Hey Kev;
Not to rain on your parade but they have this new fangled invention called the breech loading shotgun. They have these neat little self contained cartridges already loaded for you with shot and SMOKELESS powder. Imagine that! I'm sure there's an app for that you can download to your smartphone. Ain't technology great. Gotta go....have to saddle up the ole' horse and ride into town for supplies.

I had a Mortimer 12 at one time that used those newfangled percussion caps.

do nt do like i did last deer season.i loaded the ball and cap but forgot to put the powder in..got a shot at a nice buck but that primer was notr stout enough to get the bullet out of the barrel...i hope you boys well on that dove hunt with the black powder guns..always thought it would be neat to have a dove hunt and only allow black powder in percussion guns...neat uh... charlie

Charlie, I saw an old powder horn several years ago that I might copy some day, down the curve it read in two lines

"Of all the rules you must recall

its powder first - then the ball"

I have two muzzle-loading shotguns, 11 and 16 gauge, both
Belgium made. I've hunted with the 16. All I can say, it's a blast,
No pun intended. There is a place in Minn. Called Track of the
Wolf, great resource for black powder shooters. www.trackofthe
wolf.com. They also make brass Parker repo 10 gauge shell
