Default What grade is "V"?

I've an old parker, but can't find info on the grade. I see a VH, and VHE, but not just a V. can someone help me tell what gun this is?

Size -2
Barrel Weight – 4
Serial # - 127434
Made – 1904
Gun Grade – "V"
Vulcan Steel Barrel

Is this a GRADE 0?

Thanks for any help,

Sam

The "0" or zero grade was a grade designation used by the company itself. The V, or VH grade was used in catalog descriptions. The letter designations were the only ones known by the customer base. Your hammerless gun is what is known as a "VH" unless it has ejectors, in which case it would be referred to as a "VHE". The "V" or "VH" designation is all you will see stamped on the gun. The "E" is not normally stamped on the gun until the Remington era, post 1934. Yes, your gun is what is known in the factory as a zero grade, but the rest of us know it as a "VH".

Hi Sam!

If it is an extractor gun it is a VH. If it is an ejector gun it is a VHE.

Oh, hi there Bill

Sam: Your gun is in the "I.D. BOOK" as a VH Grade Parker, hammerless, capped pistol grip stock, 12 gauge with 30 inch barrels, no ejectors made in 1904.

Best Regards, George

You can shoot any lead shot shells in this gun that are compatible with the measured chamber length. However the metal and wood parts would both be better protected is you restricted yourself to what is referred to as "target" shells made for skeet and trap shooting. The chamber length of your gun, if original, is probably 2 5/8" meant to be used with 2 3/4" shells. Your gun is perfectly safe to shoot if it does not rattle when closed. Valuation means pictures.

"VALUATION MEANS PICTURES" is the best answer I have read when people ask for valuation.
