Default Anonymity on the forum

Why is it sometimes posts show up under my real name and not my forum name? On other firearms forums, anonymity is maintained as one's real name is NEVER revealed.

As I understand it, only PGCA members know your real name.

I have never seen anything but someone's "screen name" appear on the PGCA forum. Even if you originally used your real name when you first started posting (as a PGCA Member) once you take on a screen name, your newly adopted screen name will appear on all of the posts you ever made as a PGCA Member, even those earliest posts you made.

When I look at this thread you started I see the threads name and below it I see your real name. When I open the thread I see your scree name. If I click on your screenname I see your real name. Why it's set up this way, only John Dunkle can answer that.

I like to look at the screen name if I don’t already know who the poster is. I would suspect John would tell us not to post anything we wouldn’t be proud of.

I think Bill is correct.

I always assumed that the lack of anonymity was purposeful and that it was a part of membership by design. Yes, we could choose a sobriquet or nickname, but we would not be anonymous (you can see every poster's name by "thanking" them or checking their profile). Each person would be responsible for his/her comments. Frankly, I think that's an important part of why I appreciate this Association. I hope this does not change.
