Default English Setter - Looking for love!

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I have been asked to serve as matchmaker for a very capable male English Setter.

Buddy (Thomas Adirondack Buddy) is a 4 year old, living on an estate near Bar Harbor, Maine. He was the pride of his original owner, John Cochran, now deceased. Mr. Cochran hunted Buddy on his private preserve in Downeast Maine. His current owner (John's nephew) is interested in breeding Buddy, but lives out of state and has asked me to help find a suitable female in New England.

I know Buddy was professionally trained, though I don't have the particulars. I have hunted with him, and he is exceptional in the field. We also hunted him with my Abby, and they worked well together.

I have a copy of Buddy's pedigree available. While I am no expert in Setter linage, it does list many readily recognizable dog and kennel names. Honestly, Mr. Cochran could afford the best, and it looks like it got it in Buddy.

Besides his field abilities, Buddy is well mannered, sweet, loving and always willing to please. Since Mr. Cochran's passing, Buddy has made the transition from kennel dog to house dog easily. His sweet, gentle, temperament is what one would expect in a Setter. I feel he would make an excellent stud for the right female.

Should anyone knows of a suitable female, now or in the near future, please PM me. Terms of breeding negotiable.

Thanks,
Jon Sheets

Not that I am even considering breeding Grace again - What is his OFA rating?

Hi Dean, Off hand I don't know the answer to that. A lot of information was lost when Mr. Cochran passed. I will try to research and get back to you.

He is! He started as a kennel dog, but is making the transition to a house dog. He's so eager to please, and with his sweet, accommodating disposition, it's an easy transition.

Update on the OFA; The current owner can not locate any indication in his uncle's papers that Buddy was ever tested. (He arrives from Colorado today for the weekend, so I may know more soon.) If that is indeed the case, arrangements will be made to have him tested. I'll post the results when I get them.

ummmm OFA xrays evaluations are not a "TEST". Three independent Vets specifically trained to evaluate joints elbow and hips.
check out the OFA website and put in your dogs registered name.

Thank you Legh for correcting my poor choice of the word 'test'. I erronioulsy made the assumption readers would understand what I was saying.

Obviously searching the OFA website was the first thing I did. Please understand I do not own this dog. His original owner died, and most of Buddy's records were lost. What records have been located are split between Maine and Colorado. New records are discovered each month, as the original owner's nephew digs through boxes of old personal papers.

That does not excuse my using the wrong word. Clearly 'evaluated' would have been a better choice.
