Leave the brake closed at the range, it is easier on your ears and the other shooters.
Yes you will lose sight of the target when you shoot with a rifle that recoils that much. Trade it in on a nice double rifle and it will garner more interest here. |

I use a lead sled with magnums at the range, and still loose site of the target when shooting. But my bad shoulder/neck can't handle it w/o the sled.

Stock breakage is possible with a Led Sled. Don't let the gun recoil against an unyielding surface. A friend lost the stock on a .375 H&H that way.

Weight stops everything. So unless your gun is very heavy16+ lbs. ( I am not knowledgeable of your model) you are going to loose your target in recoil. Even fairly mild varmint calibers suffer loss of impact sight unless heavy for class. In part why you see serious long range rifles built heavy, with all the stability issues given consideration. Brakes are a whole other topic. You may be better served visiting accuratereloading.com for your rifle topics, it is a very active rifle forum.

I would strongly advise NOT clicking on the OP's Any help
He joined today to ask about a rifle on a Parker forum.

It does make one wonder why, with all the rifle, bench shooting, muzzle brake, threads, in all the vast number of forums, why a person would come to a vintage SxS forum and make his first post on anything but.

I’m surprised that slipped through our moderators’ security checks.
