Hi! I inherited my Canadian grandfather's Parker a long time ago. It's from 1904 based on the serial number, 12 gauge double, frame size 2, barrel weight 45, grade V, 30" vulcan steel barrel, maybe has injectors? I'll post some pics in a little bit when the sun's come up and I can take better ones. I'm not interested in selling it but am curious about what it might be worth, just cuz. I'd like to take it out and shoot it but should maybe have it inspected by a gunsmith first, to make sure it's safe?

I'm pretty new to guns but want to get into them more now. We played with M16s a little bit in the Air Force, and decades ago I had a little experience with a 22 and a shotgun at a buddy's cabin, but that's about it. Thinking about buying a Mossberg.

I suspect your gun has extractors but it might have ejectors . FWIW you find injectors on fuel injected cars and on the back of steam engines to get the water in the boiler . Just saying

This should give an idea of condition. My grandpa fell on the ice and broke the butt, I'm told. The last picture shows a small dent on the outside of the barrel, but I'm told the inside is fine.

I attached a few pics to my last post. In this one, is the corner of the wood of the stock normal, or does that look like a repair job? I can probably get another buttplate for it.

Looks like a poor repair job on the toe, Doug.But their are craftsman out there that could make it disappear. There are also butt plate reproductions available that would probably require some fitting. The dent in the barrel does look minor. The gun does not have a lot of value, hate to even list a value.
If it were mine, I would fix the toe and butt plate, clean or pretty up the stock, and then just shoot it on game and clays. If you really like it, you could refinish and reblue at a later date, just me, but I would never re case color it.

Thanks for the advice, Harold. Value isn’t important, just cool to have my grandpa’s old gun. I’m excited to shoot it but I’m going to have a gunsmith look at it first, just to make sure everything’s ok. I love the outdoors, camping, hiking, fishing, just never had anyone to get me into shooting/hunting. Hopefully this will jump start a new hobby!

You can pick up a lot of good advice and info here on the PGCA forums and we are happy you are going to keep and shoot a family gun. Since a V grade or Vulcan has fluid steel barrels, personally I would shoot 1 or 1 1/8 oz loads around1200 fps thru it---dont shoot steel shot thru it. A great piece of family history, and hopefully the start of a new hobby for you.
