Team Parker met in Mullen for the Sharptail Shootout. A great town, wonderful people and an outstanding community fundraiser. Prime prairie grouse country, 20 teams of shooters.
We stayed with our retired rancher friends Terry and Mardelle Huddle and hunted some 40 or 50 thousand acres on separate ranches owned by Bob Warner and Roger Tilton. Bo Petit was our guide. Bob is, like me, a Vietnam vet and served there in some tough times. Unlike me he was on the ground as an Army Ranger. He can still hit a running coyote with a six shooter. Bo is a young man in town, was a U of Iowa wrestler, and now mechanics and is assistant wrestling coach at the high school.
Parker people Charlie Herzog, Wayne Drury, Dave Weber, Dick Dow and me.
Tough hunting and the birds were down, but it was still a great hunt in great country. The proceeds go to college scholarships for the youth in the community. I'll be back.

A group os us hunted S Cherry County Nebraska (about 80 miles NE of Hyannis) and we too found that the population of Sharpies was down. We managed to get 14 birds of which 13 were Prairie Chickens and 1 was a Sharpie. Normally our mix is 50-50. By the way I did use my 12 GA VH and did bag my share.
