Default Newbie & need info please

Hi,
I have looked around the site and found a lot of good info about the gun I acquired. It is a Parker Bros. D'barrel 12 Ga. serial number 33767 made in 1883.

Frame size is 2
30" Barrels
Weight 5
Twist Steel
Total produced 5,122
Made in 1883

The barrel has a different number than the gun does on the flats. The barrel number is 19445. Also, the number to the left of the barrel number looks like a big "C' with the initials T J in it. Could this be correct?

Also, I believe the grade is C H Grade 4 ? I am guessing about this based on the silver shield on the stock?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks, Jim Haney

Hi Jim, welcome to the world of Parkers.

I'll try and answer your questions however it would be better if you post your question on the "General Parker Discussion" forum. You'll get better exposure to your question.

I sounds like you have a Quality grade 1 hammer gun based on the fact that it has Plain Twist barrels. You may see a single digit number above the serial number on the receiver water table. This would be the grade.

Check the flats on the barrels again for serial number 33767. Look at the left side of the locking lug up at the top and you should see 33767. You may also see the last 3 digits on the face of the locking lug just below where the locking bolt would slide against. The 19445 would be the order number assigned when the gun was being built. Not uncommon to see this on hammer guns. You may also see a single digit above this number which again would be the grade of gun.

I can't tell you what the C and TJ stand for, there are many symbols which we don't know what they stand for but probably some inspector marks.

Post some close up pictures when you post on the other forum and I'm sure you will get many opinions.
