Appears to be a 'Blue Bird' of sorts. See them only in the Summer down here.
Hoped some one could ID this colorfull little guy..any guesses ?

It's a male Painted Bunting. Spends it's summers in the southern U.S.A. and northern Mexico and spends it's winters as far south as Panama.

Now all youse probably think I'm a birder or else pretty darn smart. Fact is, we never see them up here in the northern USA, so I had to look it up in Peterson's A Field Guide to the Birds East of the Rockies.

Thanks for the picture. They are getting pretty rare. When I moved to East Texas 30 years ago I used to see them fairly regularly but I havnt seen one in years. I read that alot of them were getting caught for the pet trade in their winter ranges.
