Dean's recommendation is a great one. There are also some guys on the Fox Collectors site (and they are on this forum, too) that have an incredible knowledge of Fox guns. Get McIntosh's book...and post a question on the forums. You will get some great information.

Also if you join the A H Fox Collectors Association, you get digital access to the semiannual newsletters which are loaded with info. If you have a set of DGJs, read all the Fox articles you can. There’s a reference index on the members section of the Fox site.

Another great resource is a living one, our friend here, Tom Kidd. His articles in the DGJ in years past are reference works for serious Fox men.
I second the Fox book, and becoming a member of the AHFCA. There are members who regularly post on topics, in the Member's Only forums, that are knowledgeable beyond belief, and very generous to share that hard earned wisdom. |

Do keep in mind that Mike's book was published in 1992, and the information cut-off was like late 1989 or early 1990. Much of the actual gun information is still valid, though there are actually about 950 12-gauge Super-Fox guns, not the 300 that he speculated. We've learned quite a bit more about Ansley's early history and the chapters on the Fox Gun Co., Balto., MD., U.S.A.; Philadelphia Arms Co. and the beginning of the A.H. Fox Gun Co., could be much better.

The AHFCA forum bibliography of Double Gun Journal Fox articles is probably the best resource after McIntosh's book.

I know one thing for sure Mark, you get the right Fox in your hands and you'll never let go! Probably the best upland gun ever made...
