Kurt, I too would like the answer to your question. What I can tell you is that I load all brass hulls in 16, 12 and 10. However, all loaded with Black Powder with vegetable fiber and paper wads. The brass hulls are thin walled and the wads used are typically one gauge larger to form a tight seal. A plastic wad of the same gauge would fit too loosely.
The manufacturer's back in the day specifically informed customers that brass hulls were not to be used with smokeless powder.
Brass hulls when used with Black Powder can be reused indefinitely, as long as they are not crimped.
I too, would just love to have reliable data for smokeless. I’m not holding my breath and I’ve never been one to experiment.
