Default Short Ten Winchester Super Field (WSF) Loads: Test Results

I just received test results for three Winchester Super Field (WSF) waterfowl loads (using bismuth). The components are: (1) a 10 gauge Remington (green) hull (cut to 2 7/8''); (2) a Winchester 209 primer; (3) an SP-10 wad; (4) 1/4'' 16 gauge fiber filler in the wad cup; (5) 1.25 ounces of #4 bismuth; (6) one 16 gauge overshot card; and (7) a 6 point fold crimp. Load #1 has 23.0 grains of WSF, Load #2 has 24.5 grains of WSF, and Load #3 has 26.0 grains of WSF.

Load #3 hit the mark: 1204 fps @ 6805 psi. Assuming Load #3 patterns well, it will take ducks next season.

Also, as a comparative example, Load #4 was assembled the same as Load #2, but with 1.25 ounces of #4 lead (instead of #4 bismuth). There is no significant difference between the bismuth load (1056 fps @ 5900 psi) and the lead load (1055 fps @ 5748 psi).

Default Hammer

Very nice picture! Your load data is an inspiration! Im shooting a 10 ga Remington double 1894 steel 32" bbls. I have not owned it that long but she feels very similar to my Parker. Solid and robust....like a bigger brother. The workmanship in these fine old guns is second to none.

Thank you for sharing.

Is there anything neater (and better eating) than a bull can?

Can’t answer your question, as I don’t know. I do know that WSF is Winchester Super Field.

No it isn’t ! There’s WSF and there’s also WST . As stated WSF is Winchester Super Field and WST is Winchester Super Target . There’s also a WSH Winchester Super Handicap . I took pics of WST and WSH but sorry to say all my WSF is in at the shop .
