Default RGS Shoot at Thunder Ridge Sept 15

For those within driving distance of northcentral PA, the Susquehanna River Valley Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society will be holding a sporting clays shoot on Saturday, September 15, at Thunder Ridge Sporting Clays in Tioga County PA. Thunder Ridge is a premier sporting club with a top shelf course, nice clubhouse and spectacular views of the Endless Mountains. It's located a bit northwest of Mansfield PA, and a little south of Elmira NY. The flyer shows entry at only $70. to include 100 targets, lunch and drinks, and beer (post shooting). Register by September 1 and get a 2018 Shoot T-shirt.

The 2017 RGS/Susquehanna Chapter shoot was also at TR. I did it along with two friends and had a grand time. There were many side by sides in use and the high gun fielded a Syracuse Lefever with damascus tubes. About 50 shooters participated last year. There was plenty of excellent food.

Here's the info on Thunder Ridge; note there's a DIRECTIONS link on the TR home page.

We're just about a week away from this shoot. Hoping the weather will be dry!

I'm a little surprised that the PGCA members/RGS members who were at the shoot last year haven't weighed in.

Well Frank I would like to go but I just had cataract surgery and cannot see a darn thing and the docs say no shooting for a while. I understand they only have 24 signed up so far. Not a very good showing. September is not a good time for a shoot. Too much going on.

Sorry to say, something unexpected came up yesterday and I won't be able to do the RGS/Thunder Ridge shoot. Seems like life was a lot less complicated when I was younger.

"Presignups" got a T shirt to boot but nowadays many just wait to see the weather forecast for the shoot day. Saturday weather still looks very good at the Ridge.

I'm also not attending. I hope the weather works out for them. Be a nice change from all this rain.

I can't attend this year either. If they held the event earlier in the Summer it may have worked. This year we host a tourney here on Saturday and Sunday I leave for a bear hunt. Maybe next year? I always enjoy RGS events and I have fun shooting at my buddy Bill's place.
