Default Something New!

It has been decades since I actually owned a .22 rifle, so.....I picked up this little cutie! It's in pretty good shape and should shoot fine with standard velocity cartridges.

Thanks. I am in the process of reassembling it. Surprisingly, it was not really dirty, that is, considering what 100 years can deposit in a firearm! All the numbers match, including the stock receptacle and the stock. The grips have penciled numbers, too.

In today's world, shooting from a bicycle is passe'. Such guns are now used to shoot out of the driver's side window of a Japanese SUV, lefthanded.

I think in Anchorage they prefer the semi auto version of the Uzi in 9mm, but this nice little Stevens would suffice in some instances I suppose..... Looks like a target model with those sights. Very nice. Good for cycling when rude and poorly controlled dogs come out to hassle you... more effective than the sawed off shovel handle I use.

The little Stevens performed well. I found some CCI standard velocity cartridges at my local hardware emporium. Out of a rifle, the 40 grain unplated bullet has a velocity of 1070 FPS. That is on a par with standard velocity ammunition a hundred years ago. The various CB loads might be alternatives, too.
