Default Anyone have experience with the gunsmith(s) at Vintage Firearms?

I have an L.C. Smith that needs some minor work and cleaning. Has anyone used the gunsmith(s) at Vintage Firearms in Grand Rapids, MI, and if so, what's been your experience?

Thanks!

I didn’t know Jay had any in-house smiths...

PM Jeff Stegmeier on this forum or on the Fox forum as I know he has used him.

Jay had his guys rebuild a 20g/ Fox CE grade for me, two years ago. They did everything, new wood, metal finishes, touch up engraving, case colors , ect.. The end result was great. It met or exceeded my expectations.
I'm sure some of the work was farmed out but he used some of the best subs.

Thanks, gentlemen. Jay notes having multiple smiths on his website, and I have seen (photos of, I assume) their work for sale.

Garry,

I would also suggest giving Channing Will a call at Will Brothers Restoration in Ossineke Mi. Channing worked for Brad Bachelder and is very knowledgeable in doubles. I have been happy with everything he has done for me so far. He currently has a Winchester 1873 that had some incorrectly finished parts (blued instead of cased) that he is taking care of for me.

Jay has three gents working in the shop. His main gunsmith (Kevin) is very good. He has one individual (Frank I think) that is doing the wood work. Kevin has been working on a very complicated Three Barrel Gun Co Trap Gun project (missing floor plate) for me for over a year. Thus far project is on target and work looks great. I have had a few smaller projects/repairs done as well. One needed some additional follow up but always finished to satisfaction. Brett

Get in touch of Kip Wood at Central Michigan Gunsmithing in Mt. Pleasant. I have referred several members here to him and all have been satisfied with the work and price. You can PM me for his phone number if you want.
I gave Jay some Pre64 M70's to sell on consignment. He charged me $80 to take off a set of rings and bases and clean the receiver and he kept the rings and bases!! Never again
