The Woody Woodpecker logo was for Thrush Mufflers or Ray Smith "Mr. Horsepower" Cams.

Hey Rick,
I apologize for intruding on your thread but thought I would add this. And not too far from where you guys were shooting Sunday. Here's a couple pictures of my '51 Chevy pick up truck that I got in 1995 in Long Beach CA while visiting a circuit board supplier out there. I was looking for a retirement present for myself and paid $5,000 for the truck and $875 to ship it home in Webster NY. I sold it locally a couple years ago for $10,000. A nice clean 98% original truck that was a trouble free driver. Kinda wish I still had it. |

great looking truck Bill, i wish you still had it too
that model Chevy -1st series or as they called it when announced in '47 "the advanced design" has always been, in my opinion, the best looking pick up ever built

Great truck Bill. I had a '53, red. If it had been a 5-window I might still have it! Actually I sold it in 1968 and bought a new F-150, also a great truck but not nearly as cool.
And not to hijack, but this was parked outside my Dr.'s office the other day. No badges I could see as to the make. but it had a sticker on the back that said "If I went any faster I'd kill my hamster."

I am dating myself a bit but the Woody Woodpecker head in the oval was also an Esso mascot in the 50's. My truck was a service station truck with very low mileage and a mint condition green and tan interior.
Bill that is a beauty that you had! |
