My 7/8 ounce loads at 1200 fps wouldn't blow up a gun with a cardboard barrel. I've become a wimp in my old age. This weekend, my pigeon club is having a shoot and I may just appear and give away my stash of 1 1/4 ounce loads to my fellow members.

I'm with you Bill. Most of my shooting is either 7/8 @ 1200, 1 oz @ 1170 or my screamer 1 oz @ 1225. I don't even remember the last time I shot an 1 1/8 oz load at a clay target

My shoulder still hurts from the last time I shot an ounce and an eighth ounce shell!

A 1oz. load to me now is a heavy load. My standard has been 3/4oz. for a few years now. Recoil is a distant memory.

You guys have sure gotten the message. When I accidentally mix a 1 1/8 ounce trap load into my gun, it about kills me and causes terrible flinches. Good thing I don't earn my living shooting a shotgun any more.

Only time I shoot anything above 1 oz is in the 10 bore and that's 1 1/4 oz at 1100 FPS and change. Those heavy guns don't even act like there's 1 1/4 in them.
