Parker VH forend checkering - pay no attention to the engraving on the latch.
Gough ordered six VH Parkers that he would engrave specially for some of his dearest friends. .

I would not have expected to see that tip on the same gun as that latch. In fact, I think it's unlikely that tip left the factory on a VH, as it has the 'lip'.

Aw nuts!! I should have said "Pay no attention to the engraving on the latch or the shaping and engraving of the tip" as Gough ordered six VH Parkers to engrave and give to his dearest friends. .

Would he have replaced the tip with one he had already done, or engraved the guns as they were ordered, with smooth tip? it would be interesting to see the SNs on the tip and latch.

Actually I don't think that tip has the "lip" but rather it is beveled much like the tips on the Invincibles.

Thank you very much for all the input. I'll start my search for checkering tools and to build a cradle.

Just at my local Gunshop and he offered to let me take his tools and cradle. He also told me to practice a lot before taking on a Parker. Also suggested I talk with Larry Delgrego before starting. I was just at his shop so he could correct the "doubling" problem with my 28ga. repro and feel really comfortable asking him a few questions.
