Default New England Field Trial Season Amost Here

Our New England field trial season starts in a few weeks. Have entered Lucy in the March 18/19 New England Amateur Woodcock Classic in Exeter, RI. It's a tough 60 minute run through some very heavy woodcock cover. It's one of those trials that tougher for the handler than the dog.

Then April1/2, the Setter Club of New England has their 99th running of their spring field trial at Frances Crane WMA in East Falmouth, MA (Cape Cod). If you're within an hour of the Bourne Bridge you should come to watch. We'll have 70-80 puppies, derby's and shooting dogs (mostly Setters and Pointers but also some real nice red Setters and Brittany's). Promises to be a fun event to watch.

I've always wanted to watch a grouse or woodcock field trial. A bit too far to drive, but I'd sure enjoy any photos you might post of the action.

Down here in the Deep South, our field trial season is ending. Too hot and too many snakes. We run from November till the middle of March. We have mostly GSPs, Vizlas, Weimaraners and a few Setters. I judged only one stake this entire season. I just can't take 6 to 8 hours, or more, in the saddle anymore. Good luck with the trials, hope it's nothing but Blue Ribbons and Field Champion points.

I have been unable to find a website for grouse dog field trials.

Would you please list any that you know of.

Thank you.

Liberated bird and cover bird trials in New England are best found on Facebook. Check out these two groups - Northeastern Field Trials and/or Setter Club of New England. The ad premiums listing trial details are posted on both sites.

Thanks Wilmurt. When I took the American Field I would see the results posted in that paper. I log on to their site but never see the results now.

UKC purchased American Field and FDSB. You can read trial reports online at www.UKC.org. You can also subscribe to the printed version.

Wilmurt, I knew that UKC had purchased the "Field", but I was unaware of a separate site for the field trial results.

I tried the link you provided and was taken to a site that said that site was for sale. I will keep trying.

Thanks.
