Default Winchester Super X Industrial 8 Ga Ammo

Hello Gentleman,
So I picked up a case of 8 gauge Industrial loads, it is 1 heavy case of ammo

My intent was to pull these down, swage the bases and reload light loads for clays and maybe also some for spring turkey. I agreed to the purchase without actually seeing the ammo and when I received it, I was surprised to find how much lower the bases are on these than the current Winchester 8 gauge hulls being offered.

I thought they may fit in the chamber since there is no visible rib like the newer Winchester hulls being offered, it does not fit, the complete bases seems to be larger.

My question is, has any of you 8 gauge reloaders experimented with this Winchester Super X hull and or should I be just sticking with the newer 8 Winchester hulls being offered? I haven’t took the time, but I will probably being calling Tom Arbrust to see if he can offer a recommendation.

Thanks,
Stan Hoover

I no longer have my 8ga swedge dies, but the type I had would allow you to push loaded shells in the press then out with the ejector ram. Even though those don't have the double layer of sheet brass, the base diameter is the same as the industrial shells like Remington and Winchester. Good score. how much shot is in them?

What a load for whitetails. Or maybe American Bison at close range! Yup, tell us how many pellets.

Craig,
You are correct, this load is still being offered. I pulled one apart last evening and it pretty well matches the current CE8B2LVP load, 3 ounces of 00 buckshot for a count of 24 pellets.

If it is truly low velocity, maybe it is safe in normal 8 gauge shotgun. Wow. 24 00 buck.
