I was very fortunate in that I never had to leave the USA
I just missed the first sand box conflict in 1971 also. When I was in the military I didn't care for it at all, now I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. A young man can learn alot by serving a few years in our armed forces. Now I wished I had stayed as I would have a pension and health care. hindsight is always crystal clear.
