Too bad about the lack of information on such an unusual gun. Checkered butt on a CHE, 26" barrels, you name it. It should be in order book #99 or #100, which are in our research collection. I don't understand why this gun would not be in one or the other of those books, since those books cover the period of the manufacture of that gun, are in our research collection, and the existing books go well into the 186,000 serial number range. Maybe another manual search of those books would uncover the provenance of this gun. The only reason I question the existence of records on this gun is that in the seventies, I examined a CHE checkered butt gun that belonged to General Billy Mitchell. It was a light bird gun that I remembered to have several features of this gun, although I will admit that I don't remember the beavertail or the 26" barrels. I do remember that it has a #1 frame. I did not check with the dealer to determine the frame size of the advertised gun.
