Parker hang tags put on at the factory often listed chamber length of 2 5/8" but on the next line they listed 2 3/4" as preferred hull length. Made sense, they probably wanted the mouth of the hull to open partly inside the forcing cone to provide a better gas seal.
To each their own but over the past 25 years have shot tens of thousands of my 2 3/4" hand loads through my Parker's and see no reason to change. And most of those have been in Damascus barreled guns. But I keep my pressures down to what the guns were designed for.
This is not a recommendation to shoot the longer hull but just my personal observations.
