Was talking to my heart doctor, born and raised in Venezuela, on my last check-up. I asked if he ever got back home to visit relatives. He quickly shot back that it was too risky. He said kidnaping for ransom is the national pastime in Venezuela and hiring bodyguards made it too costly and risky for him to return to that country to visit relatives. He said a "rich" doctor would be a prime target. What a country.
