Joseph, I am just getting back on the boards and catching up on many things after recovering from back surgery last November, so this may be too late to be of benefit.

However, I had an 1879 12 GA restored by Bill Schwarz in Ellijay, GA. He was recommended by several members here. He did an excellent job. You can see the before and after pictures in the forum thread https://parkerguns.org/forums/showthread.php?t=32865.

I have submitted an article about it for Parker Pages, and Mike says it should be in the upcoming Fall issue. You can see some pictures there, if it is in the issue.

In this restoration, Bill found one hammer cracked and fabricated a new one to match. I’m no metallurgist or Parker expert, but I can’t tell the difference. I don’t know where you are located, but Bill does a great job, though he is quite backlogged. If you want to contact him, PM me or look at the thread above for his number (look for the corrected number).

Edit: Oops, I just looked back and saw you are in New England and got referrals in that area. Good sources on this forum! They helped me a lot.

Good luck in your quest.
