Default Fishig Story #2

Actually this one might be more of a hunting story. I went back to The Cove where I had my tussle with the big carp a while back; cottonwood seeds are starting to fly and most of the ones that land on this water seem to end up here, so I thought maybe some hungry carp would be checking them out. I was hoping to see some big ol' carp mouths slurping seeds (they looked tasty enough to me!) and every once in a while a softshell turtle would pop up and get me excited or a second or so. I don't know what those guys do - they just pop up, look around, then dive. Maybe they're just nosey. Anyway, no carp did I see.

Years ago my wife bought me a "fishing chair" at Eddie Bauer back before it became a clothing store; it's been riding around in the back of my truck ever since and I'm not sure I've ever used it, but this seems like a good time, so I brought my 7wt, the biggest net I have, and the chair down and set up my carp blind. Found some pine tree shade, filled a pipe with good baccy (Country Squire's Shepherd's Pie - good stuff) and set about waiting for what I hoped would be some carp coming to dine. I don't know if there's such a thing as carp decoys but if I'd had any I would have laid out a spread.

Long story longer: Sherlock Holmes once referred to something as a "three pipe problem"; I only lasted one. The thought of a cold beer seemed more appealing than a second pipe so I broke down my blind and headed to the house. No carp. (don't know why I always look so dour in my selfies. Or maybe it's just concentration?)
