I bought one new in the early 1960s when in high school with money from mowing lawns
12 b 30" barrel and full choke very nice until I fired it with a trap load. Quickly decided it needed a recoil pad which helped a little but not much
on the shelf with it at the hardware store was a new Model 12 28 inch barrel with modified choke but I was a poor teenager
I do not remember an un-fired cartridge being ejected
