I understand that Repros have plating in the bores. In other guns, like Berettas, grinding out the plating allows rust to invade the bore. However, Repros are commonly ground out in the choke area and I haven't heard any complaints of rust. Maybe the basic unplated steel is not prone to rust. The degree of choke in 28" Repro barrels is not conducive for use with steel shot. Murphy's Law enters this discussion when we consider that the 26" barrels have short chambers and the 28" barrels have too much choke. Personally, I don't try to make every gun do every job. I would rather buy another gun.
