To put these C 28's in perspective, from TPS, there were 4 made in Bernard, none known now, 3 in damascus, none known now, 4 in Titanic and 16 in Acme, existing numbers in fluid steel not known. The numbers are even smaller in B's and A's. This is one of 16 made.

Another friend called me and asked if I knew of any 28ga Bernards that might be available. Certainly not because none of the four have ever been found to collectors. There is a 32" Bernard 28 in the books, I'd love to find that and I won't be calling anybody first.

This 28ga belongs to a buddy who likes to promote interest in Parkers. You can get about the same in a 20ga but C 20's are also very difficult to find. This one is correct, unbutchered and not messed with.

If a person wants an engraved 28ga, with the scarce numbers and high cost of these guns, that is why the 28ga Parker reproductions are such an attractive alternative. I know some people don't like the looks of them as much as the originals, but the ones that are being redone by chasing the engraving to make it deeper, good charcoal case colors, traditional wood finish, are very attractive to me. I think the day will come where even the 28ga repros will be hard to find.
