Bob, it depends on the maker. Every Parker steel barrel I've done was made of relatively soft steel and they reamed quite easily. Hence I use a large T handle so I don't overshoot the desired constriction. On the other hand most Fox barrels are hard to cut - some very hard - and I use a power drive setup until I get within a few thou (using a stop) and then to the T handle. On other makers I start with the T handle and may switch to power depending on how easily they ream. Composite barrels are soft and easy.
