It is very common to have a slight amount of lateral play in a Parker when it is open and the forend is on. If the gun is on face and the lever is centered upon closing there is no problem. In fact I have a couple of guns with the lever a little left of center that are still tight and on face. I believe that the difference in the water table slot and the barrel lug contributes a little to this.
