Actually I take 2 7/8-3 inch drop, same as my father. I have trimmed off my share of stocks to meet my drop over the years. My dad left me the old doubles as my brothers were more interested in the pistols and semi-automatics. He preferred pre 1935 American made doubles. I guess the apple didn't fall from the tree. My youngest son latched on the VH 28 ga. but wants to shoot a 16 gh this year, I'm sure my dad and grandad, both die hard bird hunters, would be proud as he also prefers doubles. While the new toy will have a place the old twist hammer fourteen with straight grip will still be the favorite.
