I met Ted several years ago at a Cross Lake, MN antique and classic boat show. Ted always brought an original Shell Lake square stern duck boat powered by an 3hp Evinrude Ducktwin. He would do his "fly by" at the beginning of the show rather than get swallowed up by the 30' Chris Crafts at the end. He had a wonderful sense of humor and as we all know and a true knack for writing a story.
It was my privilege to restore a dandy little Penn Yan Kingfisher square stern canoe for him and later build him a Barnegat Bay sneakbox. We enjoyed his company at the boat show several years. I have all his grouse books, each with a pleasant inscription. The plan was to hunt grouse with him and it never worked out. We were both Army medics and that is as far as the stories went. Please pardon my rambling, he became my friend and I will miss knowing he is not there hunting grouse and plan another story
